The Azrieli Foundation was established in 1989 to realize the philanthropic vision of founder, David J. Azrieli.
The Foundation supports a wide-spectrum of initiatives in the areas of education, Jewish communal life, architecture, science and medicine, the arts, and research, education and commemoration of the Shoah. Among the many programs and initiatives supported or established by the Azrieli Foundation: The Azrieli Fellows Program, the Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Publishing Program; the Azrieli Institute for Educational Empowerment; the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration at Yeshiva University; the Azrieli Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Architecture at Carleton University, the Azrieli Lecture Series in Architecture at McGill Univesity, the Azrieli Holocaust Collection at Concordia University Library.

The Hebrew University opened its doors in 1925, twenty-three years before the State of Israel was established. Chaim Weizmann, Albert Einstein, Martin Buber and Sigmund Freud were among the Universitys founders... leaders, thinkers, and humanitarians whose genius inspired their vision of a great university whose mission would have no limits or borders. The founding charter declared that the Institution would be open to every qualified man and woman irrespective of religion, race or nationality. The University has played an integral role in Israels first 60 years. Through the Canadian Friends, your support will help the Hebrew University strengthen Israel and world Jewry for the next 60 years.

York offers 25 to 30 Jewish studies courses a year with approximately 1,000 students registered.
The Centre sponsors courses, research projects, and community programs related to Jewish learning. Among the areas the Centre has been developing are: Hebrew Language and Literature, Classical Jewish texts, Holocaust Studies, Sephardic Culture, Jewish Education, Jewish Thought, Jewish History, Jewish Community studies, Jewish Literature and Film, and Jewish Sport and Leisure. The Centre also houses "Parchment" in the Canadian-Jewish Literary annual.

Interdisciplinary program at Toronto's oldest university
Jewish Studies is a multi-disciplinary program which combines courses from the 11 departments at the University of Toronto. It offers over 60 courses in languages, literatures, religions, history, archeology, philosophy, sociology and civilization from antiquity to the present. The Program is concentrated with the Jewish experience as it has moved in time and place from the ancient land of Israel, to the many countries of the Jews' dispersion, to the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and to contemporary Judaism.
