The Israeli Patents Exhibition is the first of its’ kind in Israel. The event, which just passed in September, is organized to provide direct contact between inventors and investors from around the world.

Israel Solodoch, founder of Nufar Natural Products, and a renowned inventor himself, believes that new ideas are always important for global technological development and economic growth. He created The Israeli Patents Exhibition so that financiers could recognize notable inventors, and afford them with the opportunity to see their ideas through to fruition.

Solodoch joined Shalom life to discuss the Israeli Patents Exhibition, his current inventions, and the importance of using natural products.

ASHLEY BAYLEN (AB): What was your inspiration for organizing the Israeli Patents Exhibition?

ISRAEL SOLODOCH (IS): Any inventor inventing a new invention, even if it is the most important invention of the 21st century, will usually waste much time and resources in an attempt to find investors to purchase, produce and market his invention. As a result of this, many inventions are still in the ‘drawer, they never get developed or produced which is a loss to all mankind. The Israeli Patents Exhibition is intended to contend with this hurdle.

At the Israeli Patents Exhibition, an inventor will be able to meet investors face to face, an equal among equals, even when involving investors representing large concerns and venture capital corporations. This direct meeting will assist inventors to realize his invention quickly and efficiently.

Producing inventions, developing and marketing them helps both Israeli industry and exports as well as the economic growth in those countries that maintain business contacts with Israel such as the United States and other western countries.

Many company owners finding themselves in an economic slowdown, look for new ideas to invest in order to maintain their company’s declining profitability, and if possible, to increase it.

Another idea from Nufar to create meetings between inventors and investors is the ‘Israeli Patents website’ on the Internet. This website publicizes free, inventions from inventors from around the world. Potential investors visiting this website can read about these inventions and directly approach the inventors.

Furthermore, should the inventions be developed and produced, this will assist economic growth both in Israel and in the United States which is in economic and technological contact with Israel, as well as the entire world.

AB: What are some of the most notable inventions discovered at the Patents Exhibition this year?

IS: Among the many inventions at the exhibition were: an invention that allows the possibility of producing biodiesel fuel from used industrial oils and even oils found in sewage traps, an innovative integrative compact solar thermal system capable of generating, a standing computer workstation, a home flour package that comes with a sieve in its base, and a clean and elegant solution to the problem of dog droppings on municipal pavements. Nufar also displayed some inventions at the exhibition including a water-saving mechanism that saves 80% of domestic water consumption, a Smartphone application that can save children from drowning in swimming pools and in the ocean, and a Smartphone application which allows you to find the parking space closest to where you want to be even in the most crowded towns in the world.

AB: Israel is known for its’ innovative inventions and technologies. What do you believe is going on within the country to motivate so many inventors?

IS: There are several factors, in my opinion, that contribute to the vast number of Israeli inventions and the quality of Israel’s technology. Education to improvise, initiative and for smart intuition against any difficulty or obstacle a person might face either in the army or in civilian life. These difficulties can make a person fail which force him to invent solutions to surmount these hurdles. Among the other phrases that combat soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces have to repeat is: Fighter, be wise - improvise!

Another factor of course are the high standards of Israel’s universities and technological institutions that have world renown. For example the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the Technion - Israel’s academic institution for engineering and technology, the Weizmann Institute of Science, Tel Aviv University, and others.
