Gaza Cosmetics Company Names Perfume After Missile Designed by Hamas
The new M-75 scent called ‘pleasant and attractive, like the missiles of the Palestinian resistance’
The owners of a cosmetics company in Gaza must have spent some time recently watching the iconic 1979 film Apocalypse Now.
How else do you explain the store having released a new perfume bearing the name of a missile designed by Hamas which was recently fired at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem during the recent Gaza-Israel conflict.
The perfume, aptly named the M-75, comes in masculine and feminine scents. The cosmetics company says “the fragrance is pleasant and attractive, like the missiles of the Palestinian resistance.”
Hearing this rather unorthodox marketing philosophy, one would be forgiven if he or she instantaneously makes a connection to the most memorable line in “Apocalypse Now” uttered by star Robert Duvall who proudly shouts: “I love the smell of napalm in the morning!”
And while resistance is for the betterment of the people, the opportunity to gouge those same people should not be missed, so this unique perfume costs twice the price of other competing perfumes, because, according to the manufacturer, it uses ingredients “worthy of the victory in the Gaza Strip.”
The fact that the perfume is named after an ineffective and inaccurate weapon probably isn't mentioned anywhere in the print ad.
Let’s not give these remarkable entrepreneurs all the credit as they weren't the first to notice a massive void in the post-war cosmetics industry. After the second Lebanon War in 2006, a perfume was marketed in Lebanon with the slogan “the scent of resistance.”
