'Haters of Israel' Group Passes One Million 'Likes' on Facebook
The Arab-language group started on Facebook in 2011, and has garnered over a million likes since
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has reported that the Arabic-language anti-Israel Facebook group 'Haters of Israel' recently passed 1,100,000 "Likes" on the popular social media site.
The group was founded in 2011 by a group of Egyptian students, with it’s largest demographic remaining in the 18-24 age bracket.
In a blog post, the Anti-Defamation League stated that 'Haters of Israel' "...functions as a popular forum for those who either identify as haters of Israel or who appreciate the wide appeal generated by the page; some use the page to advertise their own pages and profiles."
The majority of the posts on the page don’t directly deal with anti-Israel topics, but there is a handful that do, and another handful that are of a more directly anti-Semitic variety.
Speaking of the posts themselves, the Anti-Defamation League stated that the page covering other topics is "a testimony to the fundamental popularity such a title has in much of the Arab world."
In addition to 'Haters of Israel,' there are a number of other anti-Israel Arabic-language facebook groups.
For an idea of the breadth of topics, one serializes chapters of the notorious (and widely disproven) anti-Semitic hoax: The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.
