Israel Gets World’s First Vegan Domino’s Pizza
International pizza chain is now serving vegan pizza, exclusively in Israel
Good news for vegans and lactose-intolerant people everywhere, though it's particularly good news if you're based in Israel.
Domino's, the international well-known pizza chain, started serving vegan pizzas in Israel on Monday, reports Haaretz. For only 69.90 NIS, families can enjoy soy-based toppings, dairy-free and reportedly delicious.
The move is reportedly in response to a Facebook group, Vegan Friendly, who campaigned for the change. The group has thousands of ‘likes’ and comments, which caught Domino’s attention.
Vegan Friendly has close to 40,000 followers on Facebook.
The group’s director, Omri Paz, says “Israel is leading the vegan revolution around the world, and this is another indication… [Vegans can order] without pangs of conscience.”
Domino's is offering nondairy cheese options for vegans and plenty of vegetables for those who are vegan-inclined. The chain’s Israeli CEO Yossi Elbaz said Monday’s new offerings were the result of six months of research and tastings. “We’ve notified Domino’s Pizza’s world headquarters and they’re very pleased,” Elbaz said. “They’re waiting to see the results.”
