The Black Eyed Peas head honcho will.i.a.m - real name William Andrews - is currently in Israel, but he's not joining the likes of Justin Timberlake, Rolling Stones, Neil Young or the other list of distinguished artists performing in Tel Aviv this year.
No, the singer/rapper/songwriter is actually in the Holy Land to make its use of its thriving hightech scene.
will.i.a.m is currently in Tel Aviv to meet with entrepreneurs to introduce his newest device, which is a smartwatch.
The member of the Grammy-award winning hip hop group has put his own funds into the smartwatch, which is currently in the testing phase.
Whereas Google, Samsung and Motorola have all put out their own versions of wearable tech recently, will.i.am's version is a rounded, traditional watch, unlike their more contemporary types.
The musician turned entrepreneur reportedly said that the smartwatch could be a new way of discovering and sharing music.
“We want to rethink everything,” he said. “How we get data back to people, how we create a different kind of ecosystem.”
Dan Atzmon, VP of marketing at Israel's KitLocate, said that the musician is "seeking developers to write apps for his device" while in Israel.
Known as the research & development capital of the world, it's a logical place to start.
