At the start of every great startup is a great idea, and behind every great idea is a person. Although startup businesses are nothing new, the rising amount of powerful women behind them are. While business is still a male dominated field, it’s refreshing to see women making waves in the world of business, technology, and several other industries. Even more impressive still are the number of innovative Jewish women who are forever changing the world around us.
So sit back and be in awe at the top ten female Jewish entrepreneurs:

Orit Koren
Orit Koren began her entrepreneurial venture with the idea of changing the automotive loan industry in Ontario, Canada. She co-founded First Class Financial Services in 1998 to help make financing and the leasing process easier for clients. The company has since changed its name to Trillium FSB Inc., and has expanded to facilitate the leasing of recreational vehicles as well as commercial equipment. She’s been named one of the top 100 Canadian entrepreneurs and signed a book deal to appear in the publication Women Who Mean Business.

Daphna Nissenbaum
Co-founded in April 2010 by Daphna Nissenbaum, Tipa aims to change the world of food and beverage packaging. They aim to find a way to make 100% biodegradable packaging to both reduce packaging waste while also reducing food packaging’s impact on the environment. The packaging ranges in a variety of styles, but leave no impact on the environment. Like their company mandate, their name is also eco oriented. Tipa is Hebrew for “a water drop,” and, according to their website, is the underlying concept behind their environmentally conscientious packaging that they claim is similar to an organ peel.

Leora Kadisha
In 2009 Leora Kadisha, then only 22 years old and a senior at Boston University, decided to find a new way to look for fashion inspiration. Tired of how Facebook restricted her creativity with fashion she sought out a new way to do things. Two years later StyledOn was launched. The website allows users to post photos, find inspiration, and shop according to their tastes without being bombarded by advertisements. The website generates income via partnerships with designers, and gets roughly 80,000 visitors each month.

Diane von Fürstenberg
Formerly Princess Diane of Fürstenberg, Fürstenberg is a Belgian-born American fashion designer famous for her iconic wrap dress. She re-launched her fashion company, Diane von Fürstenberg (DvF), in 1997, and has since transformed it into a prominent brand that offer four complete collections a year, with 85 stores across the world, available in over 70 countries. In 2005, Fürstenberg was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Earlier this year, Forbes listed her as the 68th most powerful woman in the world.

Jamie Geller
The famous Queen of Kosher a.k.a. The Jewish Rachael Ray, Geller is an American-Israeli food writer, TV personality, celebrity chef and businesswoman. She is most known for the Joy of Kosher with Jamie Geller, which is currently the most respected and well-known Kosher content brand in the world. The Joy of Kosher is also a cooking series online and a series of kosher food books, all owned by the Kosher Media Network, which Geller founded and is currently CEO of. Currently, Geller has sold approximately 60,000 cookbooks and has approximately 30,000 subscribers to her magazine.
