It's no secret that terrorists have taken to social media platforms such as Twitter to convey their theologies and messages to the masses, which always manages to stay online despite its vile and hate-filled subject matter. According to the British Telegraph, the latest case of terrorism on social media comes in the form of a (former) legitimate LinkedIn account, seeking to recruit wannabe terrorists.

The LinkedIn account is reportedly one of senior Taliban commander Ehsanullah Ehsan who serves as a spokesman for Taliban splinter group TTP Jammat-ul-Ahrar. The group claimed responsibility for a number of terrorist attacks that took place during 2014, including a suicide bombing in November that killed 60 people on the Pakistan-India border.

The account displays Ehsan's employment history, language skills - his other skills include "jihad and journalism," - and that he's a self-employed man working in "media production."

By the time LinkedIn noticed the account and took it down, "Ehsan" had made some 69 relationships.

Officials are still trying to investigate if the account was actually created by the real Ehsanullah Ehsan or if it was just a hoax, the former being a man wanted by Pakistani authorities for his involvement with several terrorist attacks, including the attempted assassination of one Malala Yousafzai.

Yousafzai, who was 15 at the time, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her human rights activism, her campaign to promote women's rights in the Middle East, and for calling out the Taliban for its crimes against humanity.

There is currently a $1 million bounty on Ehsan's head. According to a spokesperson for LinkedIn, the IP address used to set up his account was likely a fraud.

“[I] can’t say for certain that it is someone else… But I can say that our security team has a high degree of confidence that it is a fake account, which is reason enough to restrict it,” the spokesman said to The Telegraph.
