The 83rd Annual Academy Awards, hosted by a whimsical Anne Hathaway and somewhat nervous James Franco, just came to a close.

Many Hollywood Jews were awarded with the highly sought after golden statue. Here’s a quick recap of the winners and some Jewish highlights.

In the opening segment, James Franco gets distracting and begins playing with a dreidel to calm his nerves. Immediately afterwards, he points out his grandmother in the audience who announces that “she just saw Marky Mark”.

Best Art Direction went to Robert Stromberg for his beautiful interpretation of Tim Burton’s remake of Alice In Wonderland.

Aaron Sorkin won for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Social Network. He ended his speech by pointing out that his daughters’ guinea pig must pay him respect from this point forward due to his win.

David Siedler won for Best Original Screenplay for The King’s Speech. He mentions that he’s the oldest person to ever win in this category, and hopes that this isn’t an honour that lasts for very long.

In the Best Foreign Film category, Susanne Bier’s In A Better World won the award. Trent Reznor and his partner in crime, Atticus Ross, won the Oscar for Best Original Score for The Social Network.

Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon took him the gold for their Documentary Short Film, Strangers No More, which follows a group of multicultural children attending a school in Tel Aviv.

Eli Wallach was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and our favorite girl Natalie Portman won Best Actress for Black Swan.

Some Jewish presenters included Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johannson, and 7-time host Billy Crystal.

And last but not least, The Academy awarded The King’s Speech with this year’s Best Picture Oscar.
