Behn Zeitlin’s whimsical fantasy drama garnered international accolades after its’ premiere at the Sundance Film festival, where it brought home the Grand Jury Prize. ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ went on to win the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival, a “Critic’s Pick” designation from The New York Times, and Oscar talk is already abuzz.
‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ follows an optimistic and insightful six-year old girl named Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) and her ailing father, Wink (Dwight Henry), as they prepare for an impending catastrophic storm in the fictional Louisiana bayou community of “Bathtub”. Hushpuppy must bravely embark on a journey to the outside world, but is hindered by a “busted” universe that melts the ice caps and unleashes an army of prehistoric beasts.
The film is being released to Blu-Ray & DVD on December 4th, just in time for the holiday season. Shalom Life and Fox Home Entertainment have joined forces for a Chanukah giveaway!
