Carly Rose Sonenclar Dedicates Song to Brother, Could Win ‘The X Factor’
Carly performs ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ to compete for a Top 8 spot
Carly Rose Sonenclar is a “force of nature”, according to L.A Reid, and the loud and extremely encouraging audience that has fallen in love with the 13-year old.
On Wednesday night’s Thanksgiving episode of ‘The X Factor’, Sonenclar was the last to perform, delivering a powerful rendition of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.
In the talent show’s intro, Sonenclar shared that she is “giving thanks to my brother Russell. I’m really blessed that you are my brother, so this one’s for you.”
Khloe Kardashian explained that all the contestants are dedicating songs to people they are thankful for.
Sonenclar explains that she chose her brother, Russell, because he has always been there for her, is supportive, willing to listen, and gives her wonderful advice.
During the short video intro prior to her performance, Sonenclar’s mother shares that “[Russell] was so love with his little sister from the first minute he saw her.”
Russell hasn’t been around that often during Sonenclar’s tenure at ‘The X Factor’ since he’s in college, but he surprised his younger sister for Wednesday night’s performance.
After singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, the audience went wild, and the judges gave Sonenclar a standing ovation.
L.A Reid called Sonenclar “an absolute force of nature,” saying that he doesn’t know “where it comes from.”
Demi Lovato called Sonenclar “an alien”, going on to explain that she doesn’t believe the singer is only 13. Lovato says, “You’re going to be around in this music industry for the rest of your life.”
Simon Cowell said that he’s heard countless versions of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and Sonenclar’s version is “one of the best versions of that song” that he’s ever heard.
Britney Spears, who is Sonenclar’s mentor, proudly said, “You’re unreal. It’s amazing.”
Not only will Sonenclar make the Top 8, but there is whispering that Sonenclar has a chance of winning. What do you think? Could Carly win?
