Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Play Batman in Justice League?
‘The Dark Knight Rises’ star could be promoted from Robin to Batman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has certainly come a long way since his days as Tommy on ‘3rd Rock From The Sun’. With his innovative company Hit Record touring the country, an upcoming directorial debut, and lead roles in Hollywood Blockbusters including ‘Inception’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, 'Lincoln', and ‘Looper’, it’s safe to say that Gordon-Levitt has become a permanent fixture in the industry.
According to Drew McWeeny of Hit Flix, Gordon-Levitt might be taking his career even one step further very shortly… with a graduation from his portrayal of Robin in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ to the film’s star himself, Batman, in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ feature.
McWeeny suggests that Batman might appear in a post credits sequence at the end of Zack Snyder’s new Superman film, ‘Man of Steel’.
“They’re a long way from filming anything Justice League related, but [Warner] appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do … something," writes McWeeny. "So let's take what we know and speculate a little bit. How crazy do you think fans would go if Superman were to take to the skies at the end of Man of Steel, finally ready to fully accept his role as mankind's most powerful protector, only to have the closing credits interrupted when something catches his attention and he swoops down out of that sky, landing on a rooftop where Jim Gordon stands next to the Bat-Signal, interrupting just as the new Batman arrives for a chat about Gotham's latest problem?"
Similar to ‘The Avengers’ marketing model, Warner Bros has indicated that they intend to use ‘Man of Steel’ as a launch pad for a series of connected movies in the DC Comics and ‘Justice League’ universe. The studio has confirmed that ‘Justice League’ will be released theatrically in 2015, giving them 3 years to produce a few promotional flicks first.
The Post asked ‘Man of Steel’s’ Synder if ‘Man of Steel’ was going to be integrated into the ‘Justice League’ universe.
"Um, how can I answer that? I can't really say anything to that, because that's a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course," he responded.
Lastly, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ director, Christopher Nolan, is “godfathering” ‘Man Steel’, increasing the speculation that there will be a tie-in.
‘Man of Steel’ is set for a June 2013 release, starring Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crow as Jor-El, and Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.
