No Lollapalooza in Tel Aviv this Summer

Music festival beset by logistical problems

The Lollapalooza music festival scheduled to rock the stage at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park this August has been cancelled.

Earlier this month the American festival’s website provided a pretty good clue that the Israeli version of the popular concert was in jeopardy when it removed all references to it.

Local promoter Ilan Elkayam of Plug Productions initially denied the show was off but has subsequently told local media it’s been postponed until 2014 for logistical reasons.

While some rumours began to swirl about the cancellation being the result of more anti-Israeli boycotts, Israeli organizers of the event were said to be having challenges when it came to securing the talent for the show, as well as some financial issues as well.

Lollapalooza began in 1991 as a farewell tour for the band Jane's Addiction, fronted by Perry Farrell, who is also the festival organizer.
