26-year old rapper and hip-hop superstar, Drake, has finally won his first Grammy award. During the pre-telecast ceremony, Drake claimed the trophy for Best Rap Album for ‘Take Care’.
Prior to this year, Drake had been nominated a total of nine times, but was always overlooked. This year, he was nominated three times, losing in two of the categories and winning in one.
Drake’s sophomore album ‘Take Care’ was released in November 2011, just outside the eligibility window for last year’s Grammy’s. The album has been certified platinum in both Canada and the U.S, and has won two Juno Awards.
Drake was not present to receive the award at the pre-show ceremony, but did attend Sunday night's big show.
Other big winners at this year’s Grammy’s include The Black Keys, Gotye, Skrillex, Jay Z and Kanye West.
