Although posters featuring his mug have already been placed all over New York City, Shia LaBeouf has dropped out of ‘Orphans’, a Broadway play co-starring Alec Baldwin.

LaBeouf’s performance was highly anticipated by the Broadway community. The ‘Transformers’ star was intending to use ‘Orphans’ as a vehicle to prove he’s capable of more than big-budget action flicks. He was set to play a petty thief who kidnaps a rich older man (Alec Baldwin), only to form a bond with him.

In a statement, the show’s producers cited “creative differences” as the reason for LaBeouf’s exit. Producers intend to continue with their current production schedule, with previews beginning on March 19th and opening night on April 7th. LaBeouf’s replacement will be announced shortly.

Shia LaBeouf was apparently unhappy with the producers choice to cite “creative differences”, deciding to air his grievances on Twitter. He choose to post personal emails between himself, Alec Baldwin, the show’s director Daniel Sullivan, and writer Lyle Kessler.

In the screenshots posted, allegedly including emails belonging to Baldwin and the others, LaBeouf apologizes to Baldwin for “for part of a dis-agreeable [sic] situation”.

"I'm too old for disagreeable situations. you're one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. you are who you are. you two are incompatible. i should have known it. this one will haunt me. you tried to warn me. you said you were a different breed. i didn't get it," Sullivan responds in the email exchange.

Another screenshot displays an email from Baldwin to LaBeouf saying "I've been through this before. It's been a while. And perhaps some of the particulars are different. But it comes down to the fact that what we all do now is critical. Perhaps especially for you. When the change comes, how do we handle it, whether it be good or bad? What do we learn? I don't have an unkind word to say about you. You have my word."

LaBeouf responds: "same. ... good luck on the play. you'll be great."

‘Orphans’ was originally performed in 1983, and has previously starred Albert Finney and Joe Pantoliano.
