Columbia Pictures must be exceedingly pleased with Seth Rogen’s forthcoming directorial debut, the apocalyptic comedy, This Is the End – so pleased, in fact, that they want him back at the helm for The Interview. Rogen will co-direct with writing partner, Evan Goldberg, who also was at the helm of This is the End. James Franco, white-hot off the box office success of Oz the Great and Powerful, not to mention the critical success of his performance in Spring Breakers, is evidently being courted for the lead role, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The Interview, which was also written by Rogen and Goldberg, is a satirical comedy that sees a talk show host (ostensibly played by Franco) and his producer (Rogen) unwittingly being enmeshed in an assassination plot of the North Korean leader. No word yet, when production on the project will commence.

Rogen will next be seen in This is the End, alongside Franco, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, and Jonah Hill just to name a few. The film opens in theatres on June 14th.
