Justin Bieber Hopes Anne Frank Would’ve Been a ‘Belieber’
The 19-year old stirred outrage after writing in the Anne Frank Museum guest book
Justin Bieber has made a lot of mistakes this year ranging from losing his cool with paparazzi and speeding way too many times to abandoning his pet monkey in Germany, and well, even owning a pet monkey.
Now, his narcissism has resulted in fury among the media and various Internet social communities after a recent visit to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
During a stop on his European tour, Bieber visited the Anne Frank House museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the young Holocaust victim who chronicled her experiences hiding from the Nazi’s in ‘The Diary of Anne Frank.’
Before leaving, the ‘Boyfriend’ singer stopped to write in the guest book. According to the Anne Frank House’s Facebook page, he wrote “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”
Since posting the pop star’s comment on their Facebook page, they have received over 1,300 comments including insults ranging from “vile” and "disgusting" to calling Bieber a “shallow doofus”.
On Twitter, many people offered comedic, yet insightful commentary on the situation.
“Come on, Twitter, settle down about Justin Bieber. It’s just a made-up controversy. We all know Justin Bieber can’t read or write,” tweeted Joe Garden.
“’I’ve been thinking, and I now believe that people are really terrible and self-absorbed at heart.’—Anne Frank,” wrote Ken Jennings.
However, the Anne Frank House has decided to defend Bieber, explaining that he could’ve chosen to go absolutely anywhere while on tour, and chose Anne Frank.
“He’s 19. It’s a crazy life he’s living, he didn’t mean bad… and also it’s nice that he made the effort, he didn’t have to come,” said museum spokesperson Maatje Mostart to the BBC.
What do you think of Bieber’s comment?
FYI- for those of you confused about what a “Belieber” is, it is one that loves (and believes in) Justin Bieber. Also known as a fan.
