Israel’s most popular supermodel (and upcoming host of ‘X Factor’ Israel) created a social media stir on Friday after posting an odd photo during Tel Aviv’s Gay Pride events.

Refaeli uploaded a photo of herself standing over a urinal in the men’s bathroom, pretending to use it. She posted the photo to Twitter, along with a message saying “Gay, lesbians, bisexual, transgender ALL EQUAL TLV #gayweek.”

The image, which Refaeli also added to the Facebook page, received a number of comments from fans, both positive and negative.

Many followers did not understand what she was attempting to convey with the image. A support for transgender individuals? Social commentary on the differences between men and women? A pointless statement that she should be permitted to use any bathroom that she wants to?

The questions were never answered, and Refaeli later removed the image.

The supermodel also made a brief appearance on stage at the main pride event, immediately posting a photo on Instagram of the crowd with the caption “Tel Aviv #gayweek INSANE!!”.

Refaeli also experienced a social media backlash in December after posting an image of herself in a Santa suit during the holiday season. Many of her followers accused her of “betraying Israel”, while others supporters her by writing “part of her fans are Christians. You can’t judge a person cause of his religion.”

What do you think Refaeli was attempting to convey with this image?
