Rick Moranis Celebrates Brisket, Shiva's, and a Bris on New Comedy Album
The ‘Ghostbusters’ actor releases ‘My Mother’s Brisket & Other Love Songs’.
Celebrated 80’s and 90’s comedic actor, Rick Moranis, has returned with a hilarious new album exploring his Jewish heritage entitled ‘My Mother’s Brisket & Other Love Songs’.
Known best for his roles in ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids’, and ‘Spaceballs’, Moranis began his career in 70’s Toronto doing stand-up (usually with a guitar) and DJ’ing on a local radio station. His new release allows the funnyman to return to his musical comedy roots with songs such as ‘I’m Old Enough to Be Your Zaide’, ‘Live Blogging The Himel Family Bris’, ‘The Seven Days of Shiva’, ‘Kiss My Mezuzah’, and ‘Oy, The Mistakes I Made.’
"When I first began writing jokes and sketches with various Jewish partners, one of us would inevitably stop at some point and announce, 'Too Jewish!', meaning, too Jewish for the star, the show, the network or the audience. The songs on this album are all in that category. I grew up hearing Allan Sherman and the 'You Don't Have To Be Jewish' albums in the 60's. Now, I'm in my 60's," Moranis explains on his website.
‘My Mother’s Brisket & Other Love Songs’ is already the No. 1 selling comedy album on Amazon and in the Top 10 on iTunes Comedy Chart. The album features an "eclectic blend of klezmer, rumba, folk and jazz", and will hopefully bring Moranis yet another GRAMMY nomination, following previous nods in 1983 and 2005.
