The funny, relavant well-known political satirist, Jon Stewart, has just appeared as a guest on a popular TV show in Egypt, a satirical program that also happens to be modelled after Stewart's own "The Daily Show."

Stewart, brought into the show by agents in black suits and wearing a black hood over his head, began his appearance by speaking in Arabic, and saying 'shukran' and 'khalas' ('thank you' and 'enough'). "Those are the only words I know," Stewart said to the show's host, Bassem Youssef.

"If your regime is not strong enough to handle a joke, then you don't have a regime," he added.

The enthusiasm from the crowd was genuine.

Youssef is one of the most popular personalities on Egyptian TV, and, like Stewart, has been questioned for the way he speaks about his nation's government, in his case, particularly on accusations of blasphemy and insulting the president.

Originally a skilled heart surgeon, Youssef rose to acclaim when videos he posted online of him mocking the president received hundreds of thousands of hits.
