Adam Lambert opened up the festivities at this year’s BROADWAY BARES with a rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’.
Created by Tony Award-winning Broadway producer, Jerry Mitchell, {‘Kinky Boots’) BROADWAY BARES combines “the naughtiness of burlesque with the razzle-dazzle of Broadway.” Currently in it’s 23rd year, the annual event has been successfully raising funds and awareness for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
In 1992, BROADWAY BARES consisted of just seven dancers performing choreographed stripteases on a pole, and still managed to raise over $8,000. Over the last 22 editions, more than $9.8 million has been raised, and the event boasts Broadway’s hottest and most desired, including Lambert.
This year’s BROADWAY BARES: UNITED STRIPS OF AMERICA was directed by Nick Kenkel (‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘Peepshow’, ‘Legally Blonde’).
