A long, esteemed list comedians and actors have been the recipients of the venerable “Comedy Central Roasts” – soon, Mr. James Franco will add his name to that list of honorees. The perpetually busy multihyphenate made the announcement in a short Instagram video, then subsequently made a statement.

"I've dreamed about this roast for as long as I can remember," Franco said.

Said roast will be taped in Los Angeles in August, then premiere on Labor Day (Monday, September 2nd). Franco’s documentary, Francophrenia is slated to air immediately after on the network.

"If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he'd be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we'll just have to make do,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s president of content development and original programming, in a statement.

Previous honorees of the “Comedy Central Roasts” include Roseanne Barr, William Shatner, Joan Rivers, and Charlie Sheen.

Currently, Franco can be seen in the wildly successful comedy, This is the End.
