Simon Wiesenthal Center Slams Thai University’s Hitler Superhero Mural

Thailand’s unexplainable obsession with Adolf Hitler continues to thrive. Earlier this month, a new fried chicken restaurant opened in Bangkok swapping out Colonel Sanders for the Nazi leader wearing an apron and bowtie. Now, it has been discovered that Chulalong University displays a mural depicting Hitler as a superhero, alongside fictional characters including Superman, Batman, and Captain America.
The mural is featured outside the University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts building, and according to Times of Israel, “has become something of an attraction in recent days with passersby getting their picture taken in front of it, some while performing a Nazi salute.”
The Simon Wiesenthal Center in appalled. Associate dean, Rabbi Abraham Cooper has reached out to the University demanding answers.
“Hitler as a superhero? Is he an appropriate role model for Thailand’s younger generation— a genocidal hate monger who mass murdered Jews and Gypsies and who considered people of color as racially inferior?,” Cooper said.
This mural has been on display for days nearby the University’s Faculty of History building. We are outraged by those who created this travesty, at the young person posing using the Nazi ‘Seig Heil’ salute and appalled and disgusted by the total silence of the University’s elite for the apparent failure of anyone demanding its removal,” Cooper continued.
Rabbi Cooper brought the Wiesenthal Center’s ‘Courage To Remember Holocaust’ exhibit to Bangkok’s UN Hall last winter, where it was translated into Thai. He was joined by 500 activists, students, and diplomats who learned of the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered by Hitler’s Nazi Third Reich.
