Mike Meyers Comes Out of the Woodwork with Directorial Debut ‘Supermensch’
The funnyman is teaming with A&E Indie Films to chronicle the story of trailblazing talent manager and friend Shep Gordon
Mike Meyers has come out of the shell he has been hiding in to announce that he is teaming up with indie filmmakers A&E to tell the fascinating story of an extraordinary talent manager, and friend, Shep Gordon.
Gordon and Meyers have a long-established relationship, originating from 1991 when Myers made his film debut as the pea-brained Wayne Campbell in Wayne’s World.
The duo will be standing shoulder to shoulder again for Meyers’ directorial debut, documenting Gordon’s thriving career as a talent manager. Representing a flock of household names like Alison Cooper, Blondie, and Luther Vandross, Meyers believes Gordon’s legendary career is a compelling one.
"I met Shep Gordon in 1991 on the set of Wayne's World … he was a perfect combination of Brian Epstein, Marshall McLuhan and Mr. Magoo. I've been trying to get Shep to agree to let me make a movie about him for 10 years. Last year he finally he said yes. I loved him like a brother before we started making this film, and now having sifted through his life and his legacy, I love him even more,” Meyers said in a press release.
Supermensch will be told from the perspective of mega-watt celebrities and friends like Michael Douglas, Sylvester Stallone, Anne Murray, Willie Nelson, and Emeril Lagasse.
