Rock Legends, KISS, Bring Arena League Football Back to Los Angeles
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley will launch their team in 2014
Los Angeles is getting ready to rock n’ roll all night… with the return of Arena League Football.
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of legendary rock band, KISS, are apparently huge fans of the league that features 50-yard fields and high-scoring offenses. So much so, that they have formed a new expansion team called L.A Kiss. Announced on Thursday, the team will begin playing in 2014 with home games at Honda Center in Anaheim.
Simmons believes that the fast-paced action of the AFL is a perfect fit for the high-energy of KISS. He explains that attending an L.A Kiss game will be just like going to see his band perform.
"There's nothing like AFL and that's what we're going to promote," Simmons told a news conference. "This is about taking AFL to heights it's never been before."
"L.A. is dying for a football team," Stanley said. "What we want to see happen is to take the excitement that is AFL football and bring entertainment to it. We don't put our name on something unless we believe in it. This is something that really resonates with us."
Los Angeles hasn’t had an AFL team since the Avengers folded in 2009 after eight seasons. Season tickets for L.A Kiss will be available for $99 and all inaugural season seat holders will be invited to a free KISS concert next year.
