James Franco Wants the Academy to “Consider This Sh*t”
The distribution company behind ‘Spring Breakers’ has launched a campaign to get Franco nominated for his memorable role as Alien.
Whether you loved or hated Harmony Korine’s ‘Spring Breakers’, you have to admit that James Franco’s portrayal of Alien, the corn-rowed and grilled gangsta rapper, was memorable, to say the least.
A24 Films, the distribution company behind ‘Spring Breakers’, is launching an Academy Award campaign in hopes of getting James Franco nominated for said role in the Best Supporting Actor category.
The promo materials include photos of Franco as Alien, holding an Oscar statuette in his hand, with the slogan “CONSIDER THIS SH*T”, a reference to his powerful (and somewhat disturbing) speech from the film in which he excitedly brags about all his “cool shit”.
"James Franco has created a character so indelible it deserves recognition. We are excited to be able to support it with a campaign and know the impact of Alien will last far past this awards season," an A24 spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.
"We plan to create an awards campaign that is thematically consistent with the film itself," the spokesperson continued, explaining the use of foul language in the promo.
