Sosie Bacon is Crowned Miss Golden Globe
The daughter of Kyra Sedgewick and Kevin Bacon is an aspiring actress
Kicking off the Golden Globes awards season is the crowning of Miss Golden Globe and this year, carefully selected by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, is Sosie Bacon. Miss Golden Globe is an annual tradition that appoints a young woman who is typically the dughter of Hollywood actors. It makes sense then that the daughter of two Golden Globe winners, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, was their first choice. Last year the honor went to the daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher, Francesca Eastwood.
"As we all know, she comes from a very talented family and this gets us one degree closer to Kevin Bacon," said HFPA President Theo Kingma in announcing the selection at a party in West Hollywood co-hosted byInStyle magazine.
The 21-year-old Sosie Bacon told E! News that she was "very, very excited" about the announcement.
Sosie first began her acting career in 2005, appearing alongside her mom in the film Loverboy, directed by her father. Later she starred again as Brenda Leigh Johnson with her mother in the The Closer, the TV show that earned Sedgwick her Golden Globe.
"As a young actress who is just beginning my career, it is truly an honor to be a part of such a special night in film and television," Sosie Bacon said in a statement, "I can only hope to continue the legacy and tradition of Miss Golden Globe by following in the footsteps of my predecessors."
