At only 11 years old, Tavi Gevinson started an online blog called The Style Rookie that later became the online magazine Rookie and even later became two books Rookie Yearbook One and Rookie Yearbook Two. More recently, Gevinson has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and now has another book deal on the way. One more thing - the successful Tavi Gevinson accomplished all of this in less than 6 years. She is only seventeen years old.

Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin Random, announced yesterday, Tuesday, February 4th, that it gained Rookie Yearbooks 3 and 4 through “a competitive auction”. Featured in the upcoming books, according to Razorbill, will be “jumbo, full-colour compendiums” as well as “the best of rookiemag.com from its previous year, plus exclusive-to-print content from big name contributors.”

Tavi Gevinson’s Rookie Yearbook One and Two were printed in a similar fashion, comparing the best of her online blog with original content from Girls star Lena Dunham and The Mindy Project’s Mindy Kaling.

“Rookie is one of the few sites I read religiously. It’s inspiring to se a publication so chock-full of strong female voices. The hope is that this partnership will create new and exciting opportunities for those voices to be heard,” said Razorbill editor Jessica Almon.

Gevinson herself seems thrilled with this new development, stating that, “The team at Razorbill full understands Rookie’s mission to promote new talent and give our readers something special. I’m thrilled to have found a home with them for our next two books.”

Gevinson’s website garners over 4 million views per month, packed with teenager friendly content featuring DIY projects, playlists and interviews with pop icons such as Lorde.

“One thing I’m very proud of is that Rookie has a lot of legitimacy in publishing and music journalism and fashion. As it’s grown, the goal has become more to make people feel included, that they’re cool enough or smart enough,” Tavi Gevinson revealed to the New York Times.
