Rabbi Officiates Paltrow and Martin’s Uncoupling Ceremony in Bahamas

The former couple ended their “break up moon” with a spiritual ceremony led by a Kabbalah rabbi.

At the end of March, Gwyneth Paltrow announced that her and Coldplay front man, Chris Martin, would be separating after 10 years of marriage. She explained the break up as a “conscious uncoupling”, a term that took the Internet by storm and further solidified Paltrow’s reputation as pretentious and elitist… many arguing that she can’t even end a marriage like the rest of us.

To add fuel to the fire, however, Paltrow and Martin decided to spend the last few weeks in the Bahamas together on a “break up moon”, waking up each morning at 5am for “daily counseling and joint meditation sessions.”

According to UK tabloid The Daily Star, Paltrow didn’t want their split to be “seen as a sign of failure but as an ‘inevitable circumstance’.”

At the end of said “break up moon”, the former couple engaged in an “uncoupling ceremony” officiated by a Kabbalah rabbi. Taking place on the beach, Paltrow and Martin read from a sacred book, lit a fire, and used stones to symbolize the “concrete relationship” that the two will continue to share as parents and friends. They finished by throwing the rocks into the water to symbolize their “wandering spirits.”

Finally, the couple reportedly recited "Blessed are you in coming in and blessed are you in going out" followed by a kiss goodbye.
