Drake, who in a recent press release describes his two greatest passions are “sports and performing” is thrilled to be announced as the host of this year’s Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) awards.

Presented annually by ESPN, the ceremony honors the best in sports over the past year. Although not an athlete himself, Drake is heavily involved in the athletic community, especially after his recent appointment as the Toronto Raptors global ambassador.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to combine two of my biggest passions- sports and performing,” Drake explained in a statement, followed by a tweet saying how honored he was to host the show.

ESPY’s executive producer, Maura Mandt, is excited for Drake to be involved as well, saying “Drake’s charisma, energy and fearlessness come across whether he’s performing music, acting or doing comedy… We are all in for an unforgettable program.”

The awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on July 16, presenting categories in dozens of categories including Best Game, Best Upset, and Best Breakthrough Athlete.

Fans can vote for their picks on the ESPYs website starting on June 25.
