Last week, rumours of Bill Murray hosting the first episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ 40th season were swirling about, with many vintage ‘SNL’ fans looking forward to the ‘Groundhog Day’ actor reprising some old characters.
Whether Murray will return or not is still up in the air, but NBC has confirmed the actual host of episode one: ‘The Guardians of The Galaxy” star, Chris Pratt with special musical guests Ariana Grande.
Sarah Silverman was also announced as host for the second episode of the season. The “We Are Miracles’ comedian hasn’t appeared on ‘Saturday Night Live’ since been fired as a writer and occasional producer in 1994.
After the announcement was made on Wednesday, Silverman took to Twitter with a very simple message: “Holy s---“.
Silverman worked on ‘SNL’ for one season 1993-94. While speaking to the Huffington Post, she explains that “I was hired at SNL, and almost immediately fired, I bombed for years, I, you know, but it’s all a part of the journey, which is the fun part,” adding “I wrote not a single funny sketch, so that might have something to do with it too.”
