Howard Stern Defends Himself Against Rabbi's Attack

On Saturday September 7th, Howard Stern eulogized Joan Rivers after her unexpected and untimely death.

While many friends and family in attendance praised Stern’s words, Rabbi Potasnik, wABC News Talk Radio co-host on ‘Religion on the Line’, was not pleased.

Although Potasnik was not at the funeral, he condemned Stern’s offensive comedic style, adding that he diminished the “holiness” of the service.

“The issue was the type of humor that was brought in to the temple by Howard Stern,” Rabbi Potasnik stated on his radio show.

“In my eyes, it crossed the line. Extensively crossed the line, wasn’t even close,” he continued.

Insulted by the Rabbi’s assumptions, Stern responded on his own radio show Monday morning.

“Don’t criticize something you didn’t hear,” Stern began. “This guy [Potasnik] is a fucking creep. Who even cares what Rabbi’s have to say?”

“I didn’t use one profane word,” Stern continued, pointing out that a few other speakers did choose to swear, while he decided against it.

“I wasn’t doing a eulogy for this asshole. I was doing it for Joan. Joan would have loved it,” he concluded.
