Stan Lee is taking his comics to Bollywood. The launch of his new series Chakra the Invincible in 2011, featuring his first Indian superhero, has prompted the production of a Bollywood film adaptation.

The film project is being headed by Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment and Graphic India - an Indian character entertainment company. Lee and his producing partners (Gill Champion from POW! Entertainment and CEO Sharad Devarajan of Graphic India) are said to have been meeting with leading Bollywood directors, producers and writers in order to bring Chakra to Bollywood live-action film.

Chakra the Invincible revolves around an Indian teenager named Raju Rai who just happens to be a tech genius residing in Mumbai. Raju ends up developing a technically-enhanced suit that activates the chakras of the body, thereby giving him new superpowers.

The film being developed will focus on an older, adult version of Chakra and his arch-enemy, Boss Yama. Lee has also released a teaser of concept images featuring this new older version of Chakra via social media.

"We've set up some great meetings already with some of the most amazingly talented actors and directors in Indian cinema and I have no doubt that these individuals will help make the Chakra film a massive hit in India and around the globe."

Pre-production is estimated to start in early 2015 and actual production is projected to be by late 2015 or early 2016.
