The Ten Best KOSHER Delis in North America

A few weeks ago we at Shalom Life released our list of the top ten delis in North America. Although it was received with joy from many, there were those who weren't entirely pleased that not a single name on the list was Kosher. Little did you know, however, that this was actually a two-part list, and we were planning our list of the top ten strictly Kosher delis in North America. And here it is. We even made sure to include some of your suggestions.

10.

Deli: Kornblatt’s Deli

City: Portland

Located in Portland, Oregon, Kornblatt’s Deli is a taste of some self-proclaimed “Jewish Soul Food” and we couldn’t agree more. A New York City style deli, Kornblatt’s Deil is the solution for people looking for that authentic smoked meat sandwich but don’t feel like traveling into New York for a taste. Their meat is smoked, steamed, and boiled on location and always fresh, not to mention they serve the best Reuben in Portland.

9.

Deli: Kohn's Kosher Deli

City: St. Louis

If you’re looking for that classic deli taste, but want to try something new, then Kohn's Kosher Deli is the place for you. In addition to great deli, they offer a full service meat department, grocery market and bakery. A convenient shop for all your kosher needs.

8.

Deli: Mendy’s Kosher Delicatessen

City: New York

With several locations throughout the heart of New York, Mendy’s Kosher Delicatessen is a must for pastrami fans. With possibly the best pastrami on rye that you’ll find in the city, a cozy atmosphere, and coleslaw that’s to die for, Mendy’s is a favorite of locals and tourists alike.

7.

Deli: Ben’s Kosher Deli

City: Seven locations in New York, and one in Florida

Open for over 42 years in locations across the United States, Ben’s Kosher Deli offers some of the best corned beef you’ll find in the country. Friendly staff, great environment, and handmade foods that are to die for (like their delicious dill pickles and freshly prepared coleslaw), Ben’s is the place to go if you’re looking for a reasonably priced meal that’s of the highest quality.

6.

Deli: J&R Kosher Meat and Delicatessen

City: Montreal

Founded in 1952 by Robert Nemes and Joe Fellner, J&R Kosher Meat and Delicatessen is rich in history. Born in Romania and survivor of the Holocaust, Robert came to Canada with $7 and a dream of making a name for himself, and providing for a family. The deli, famous for its smoked meat made daily, is also revered for its continually expanding Kosher product line, which now includes Kosher Chinese takeout options.
