If you’re a huge fan of Beyonce or Lil Wayne, you may want to stop reading this article now… or if you’re brave and consider yourself highly intelligent, you may want to continue reading in an effort to deem this study inaccurate.
A software application writer named Virgil Griffith has spent the past few years developing a system that compares your intelligence (based on SAT score) to musical artists and genre to determine what “smart” people listen to vs. “dumb” people.
As you will soon realize, the study is not based in any real science. For example, as Consequence of Sound pointed out, “students attending the California Institute of Technology have an average SAT score of 1520. By looking at Facebook to determine the most popular (or – “liked”) band of students at Cal Tech, Griffith was able to conclude that Radiohead really truly is music for smart people.”
According to the chart that Griffith generated based on his findings, smart people enjoy Bob Dylan, Sufjan Stevens, Counting Crows, and as previously mentioned, Radiohead. However “dumb” people prefer Beyonce, Lil Wayne, The Used, gospel music, and The Used.
