Children of the 80’s rejoice! Pee-wee is going to be going on another big adventure!

Paul Reubens, the actor that portrayed Pee-wee Herman, confirmed on ‘The Tonight Show’ Wednesday evening that him and Judd Apatow are teaming up for a reboot of the popular film.

Rumours of a new Pee-wee movie have been circulating for years. When Jimmy Fallon asked Reubens about the gossip, he surprised audiences by sharing “there is going to be one and I was hoping I could make this huge announcement tonight, but it’s a week away, I think, from being announced.”

“Judd Apatow is producing it still. This was all leaked three years ago,” Reubens added.

After the announcement, Reubens delighted the crowd with a Pee-wee Herman dance, going on to share his excitement.

“I’m proud of that show. We took it very seriously that we were affecting young minds. I’m excited that a whole new generation of kids may find it now.”

Reubens originally invented the Herman character in the late 70’s as a member of comedy improv group The Groundlings, going on to star in the popular TV series ‘Pee-wee’s Playhouse’ and films ‘Pee-wee’s Big Adventure’ and ‘Big Top Pee-wee’.
