Before she passed away unexpectedly this past summer, Joan Rivers was the host of the E! network’s Fashion Police, and now it appears that comedian Kathy Griffin will be officially replacing her.
It was confirmed by E! on Monday that Griffin will be the new host of the series, alongside newcomer Brad Goreski who is a celebrity stylist and star of It’s a Brad Brad World. Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic will also continue to co-host the show, and Melissa Rivers will continue as executive producer.
Griffin’s first appearance as host will be at the 2015 Golden Globes on Jan. 12.
E! reports that Melissa Rivers is thrilled to see Griffin in the role previously held by her mother and says that it “just feels right.”
“I’m excited to see where this panel takes this series my mother so adored in this next incarnation,” said Melissa.
Rivers, as it turns out, was very close with Griffin before her passing and acted as her mentor. This is no surprise since the two of them share a bold, witty and often irreverent sense of humour. In a statement about her new role, Griffin is quoted as saying, “I’m Kathy f–king Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners. I am not holding back so DAMMIT let’s have some fun!” Joan Rivers would definitely be proud.
