Former E! late night host, Chelsea Handler, left the network that aired ‘Chelsea Lately’ for seven seasons last year. She signed a deal with streaming service, Netflix, for a new talk show, in addition to several comedy specials. While speaking at the Code/Media conference in Dana Point, California, Handler had nothing nice to say about the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ network.
“I’m so much smarter than that show was and I wanted to be going a show that was smarter than I was,” Handler began.
“At E! I did what I wanted and I didn’t listen to anybody because I didn’t care what they had to say because I didn’t respect their opinions… At Netflix, I do respect their opinions. It’s like going out with a guy you’re proud to be seen with,” she continued.
Handler’s new Netflix talk show will premiere in 2016 and promised to include “a healthy mix of everything that goes on around the world.”
Last year, Handler began her partnership with Netflix by releasing ‘Uganda Be Kidding Me Live’, a special based upon her standup tour. According to The Hollywood Reporter, her upcoming comedy specials will examine topics from Silicon Valley to unconventional relationships.
