There’s a Jewish Rapper with a #1 Hit Record, and His Name’s Not Drake

If you haven’t yet seen Lil Dicky’s Professional Rapper video with Snoop Dogg, then you’re already too late.
We’ve covered Lil Dicky here before, and are happy to see that things are finally turning out well for him. Lil Dicky, real name David Burd, has just dropped his new album, Professional Rapper, to critical acclaim. Currently topping the rap, comedy, and Billboard 200 charts, the album has reportedly sold 22,000 copies in its first week.
Though the video for ‘Professional Rapper’ is certainly unique, it is by no means Lil Dicky’s first experience on YouTube - in 2013 the comedic rapper released a video for his track 'Ex-Boyfriend', which has amassed almost 11 million views since its release. ‘Ex Boyfriend’ also featured the likes of Snoop Dogg, as well as other big-name rappers, including T-Pain and Rich Homie Quan.
Currently his album’s title song is leading the Comedy Digital Tracks chart, with 5,000 downloads. And the song’s video, which is animated and features Snoop, already has 1.7 million views worldwide. And to be honest, I have to give Lil Dicky props for referencing his Bar Mitzvah, and for tackling how the way we plan to live life may not mirror the way life turns out in a rap.
