Popular Kabbalist Buried in Jerusalem
Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives was home to thousands of Israelis on Friday, July 29th, all of whom came together to attend the funeral of the popular Kabbalist, Rabbi Elazar Abuhatzeira.
The 70-year-old Kabbalist was killed a day earlier at a yeshiva in Be’ersheva, by what authorities have described as a man looking for advice from the rabbi.
The alleged killer, 42-year-old Ahser Dahan, had reportedly spoken with Abuhatzeira in the past and told police that he was unsatisfied with the rabbi’s advice who he blamed for not solving his marital problems.
“The Jewish people have lost one of their supporting pillars,” said Beersheva City Council Member Yaakov Ohayon, reported Haaretz. “The rabbi was murdered while he was giving advice and guidance to people in need of his help. He has thousands of followers and he is one of the greatest rabbis in the world.”
