The Global BRAIN Initiative Launched in Israel
The new project, Israel Brain Technologies, launched the global BRAIN (Breakthrough Research and Innovation in Neurotechnology) Prize, which will go to the individual or group that comes up with a breakthrough in brain technology that has global implications.
President Peres calls brain research the “next big frontier.”
“In the coming 10 to 15 years, brain research will be the most important one. It will revolutionize our lives,” Peres said in a statement.
The winning entry will be determined by an international judging committee comprised of leaders in neuroscience, technology and business, and will be presented during the Global Brain Technology Conference in 2013. “The BRAIN Prize will bring together the best minds across geographic boundaries to create the next generation of brain-related innovation, from Brain Machine Interface to Brain Inspired Computing to urgently needed solutions for brain disease,” said Rafi Gidron, the founder and chairman of Israel Brain Technologies.
