80,000 Years Ago One-State Solution Worked Well in Israel
Archaeologists uncover evidence of peaceful co-existence between one-time enemies
The archaeologists,
digging in Nahal Me’arot in the northern part of the country, found
primitive tools that experts believe were used by both early Homo
Sapiens and Neanderthals, suggesting that they worked
together, or at least in each other’s company.
Evidence uncovered in Nahal Me'arot, a Unesco World Heritage Site, suggests that the two “relatives” may also have not only worked together, but “played” together as well, as, according to The London Times, they may have also indulged in some peaceful interbreeding, and not the rape that earlier theories suggested.
“If that interbreeding did take place, it must have been here,” archaeologist Daniel Kaufman, was quoted in The Times.
Neanderthal genes comprise between 1 to 4 percent of European genes, backing up the theory of interbreeding between the two sub-species.
