Over the last few decades, the quest to achieve equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered individuals has slowly come to fruition, particularly this year, as the first professional basketball player has come out, Ontario has its first openly gay premier, the United States Supreme Court has granted equal rights for LGBT members, and several other breakthroughs continue to take place in the ongoing struggle for justice and equality.
