7-Year-Old Escapes Heated Vehicle
The escape follows a series of similar events that have taken place in Israel
It happens every summer. A driver leaves their dog, toddler, baby, or child in the car, and think nothing of it. Sometimes nothing happens, but more often than not, the police are called, or individuals take matters into their own hands, be that smashing a window, or finding the owner.
The Times of Israel reports that, in Tel Aviv, a seven year old boy fell asleep and was left unnoticed by the driver of a minibus to cook from the heat of an Israeli summer. He, luckily, escaped.
Israel Radio reported that the boy was fine, with passersby contacting the police and the boy’s father once he exited the vehicle. The driver was called in for police questioning.
This is not the first incident of its type to occur in Israel over the past two months, with some cases being fatal. On July 15, an 18-month-old girl died when she was left in a car for five hours in the settlement of Dolev in the West Bank.
Only July 14, on another settlement in the West Bank, a 5-month-old died after being left in a car, with paramedics pronouncing it dead at the scene. The start of the month saw a nine-month-old in Tel Aviv perish after being left in a parked car in the suburb of Ramat Gan.
Since the three occurrences, an 11-year-old boy has invented an E-Z Baby Saver car alarm, and an Israeli startup has created BabyMinder, both with the objectives of ensuring such insistences do not occur again in the future.
