Who's Killing Greece's neo-Nazis?
Apparently, its members of the Militant People's Revolutionary Forces, a previously unknown group which has claimed responsibility for recent killings of members of Golden Dawn, Greece's far right, neo-Nazi party
Over the past few years, several headlines have appeared in the news involving Greece's far-right, Nazi-tie leaning party Golden Dawn.
As left-wing members of Greece's political parties tried to bring awareness of Golden Dawn's extremist agenda to the public eye (and failed), it seemed Greeks were only ready to acknowledge the group's far-right policies after the murder of left wing rapper and anti-racist activist Pavlos Fissas (a.k.a. Killah P), near Athens.
Since then, the floodgates opened, as more members of Golden Dawn wound up being arrested for their involvement in the group, which, apparently, had many criminal associations and illegal activity. Even the fascist party's political leader, Nikos Michaloliakos, is currently in prison, awaiting trial for his involvement in the murder of Fissas.
While many of us can finally await for justice to be served, though, it seems there a few Greek vigilantes out there who would not be content with whatever penalty the Greek judicial system has in store for certain members of Golden Dawn.
As such, they've taken it upon themselves to make sure 'justice' is served, albeit, a harsh, illegal, and immoral justice, one that Bruce Wayne or other experienced vigilantes would surely disagree with.
Last month, two members of Golden Dawn were killed, as fears that violence will continue in the region continue to escalate.
Now we've learned that a previously unknown group, the Militant People's Revolutionary Forces, has claimed responsibility for the killings.
"The Militant People's Revolutionary Forces assumes responsibility for the political executions of … the neo-Nazis," said the statement in an 18-page document they sent to a local news agency.
Greek police have begun an investigation into the group’s statement.
The killings, said the group, are retribution for the slaying Killah P. The group has also reportedly threatened to keep killing members and affiliates of Golden Dawn.
The Greek news website “The Zougla” (Jungle) reported the statement on Saturday.
This, however, is not good news for those opposed to Golden Dawn as the two slain men are now being looked at as martyrs within the country, as popularity for Golden Dawn (which decreased significantly after the murder of Killah P) is now gaining momentum again.
