Steve Tisch, the Chariman and Executive Vice President of the New York Giants football club, and well-known TV and film producer (his credits include 'Forrest Gump', 'American History X' and 'Snatch') has signed on as President of the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival, giving the student-run event a huge, sensational boost.
This isn't his first time getting involved with an Israeli organization either; his family, who co-own the Giants, sponsored the Tisch Family Zoological Gardens in Jerusalem.
The Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival was inaugurated in 1986, and has since gained a steady following among amateur filmmakers looking to make it big.
Tisch will arrive in Israel for the bi-annual festival, which will run from May 31st to June 7.
It will feature 250 films, 70 of which come from over 40 countries who will compete in the international festival.
“Our students will have the privilege of learning from Mr. Tisch, who is a role model known for his achievements in the film industry,” said one Yosef Klafter, President of Tel Aviv University.
If you're planning on making it to Israel this summer, besides checking out the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and a multitude of other talented artists making their way to Tel Aviv, this is certainly something you should invest your time into.
