Experts at New York Conference Say U.N. is "Leading Global Purveyor of anti-Semitism”

Over 500 panelists attended a conference on anti-Semitism in New York this week, which took place on the third floor of the United Nations building.

However, the United Nations did not actually sponsor the event, which was handled by the UN Permanent Mission of Palau and the Aja Eze Foundation.

For many in attendance, considering the well-documented allegations that the United Nations in itself is anti-Israel, and anti-Jewish, having a conference on anti-Semitism there was more than a bit ironic.

For example, did you know that there are ten official UN holidays, including Christian holidays of Christmas and Good Friday, and Muslim holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and six American holidays, and not even one that's Jewish? Recently, 32 nations signed a bill to name Yom Kippur as an official U.N. holiday, but we'll have to see how that pans out.

At the New York conference, such sentiments weren't lost on the panelists who arrived to conjure up ideas to combat the growing spread of international anti-Semitism.

“Why couldn’t the UN, founded on the ashes of the Jewish people, and presently witnessing a widespread resurgence in anti-Semitism, sponsor a conference on combating global anti-Semitism?” said one Anne Bayefsky, who serves as director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust. “The answer is clear: Because the United Nations itself is the leading global purveyor of anti-Semitism.”

Bayefsky was one of many who argued that the stronger anti-Semitism becomes in the international community, the more global security diminishes, adding that allowing racism and discrimination only enables terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda or ISIS.

The conference took place after a devastating summer for Jews and pro-Israel supporters around the world, following the war against Hamas terrorists that intensified throughout July and August. During this period, according to the World Zionist Organization, there was a 400 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents.

Europe in July saw a 436% increase, while the US witnessed a rise by 130% . In South America, anti-Semitic incidents skyrocketed by 1,200%, and in South Africa by 600%.

The ADL also reported that there was a "dramatic surge" in global anti-Semitism, reporting attacks in France, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Scotland, the United States, and other incidents.

“Where is the outrage? Where are the universal condemnations?” asked Ambassador Ron Prosor, a permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations. “The silence is very similar to the silence of the 1930's and we all have a responsibility to stand up and fight.
