Muslim-German Students Attack, 'Threaten to Kill' Jewish Student Spokesman, Force Him to Resign

After wearing a kippa sporting a Star of David to school, Max Moses Bonifer was subject to anti-Semitic taunts and abuse

Since this summer's 50-day-war between the Israeli army and Hamas terrorists, students around the world have been subject to increased anti-Semitism, whether it be in the form of Students for Justice in Palestine's anti-Israel bashing and ostracizing Jewish students on campus, to direct attacks on Jewish and Israeli students on campus.

During the month of October in the U.S. alone, several instances of Nazi vandalism were reported on college campuses, including an incident at Yale University.

This week, in Offenbach, Germany, the student spokesman for the region's school system, Max Moses Bonifer - a Jew - resigned his post.

His reasoning? Because German Arab and Turkish students physically attacked him, and threatened his life.

As reported by Germany daily FAZ, Bonifer claims that the young Muslim students have been verbally abusing him because he wore a kippah brandishing a Star of David to school, taunting and yelling at him, "We spit on your people. We’ll find you and kill you.”

Way to start an educated dialogue there.

Bonifer added, to German Jewish paper Jüdische Allgemeine, that “since the Gaza conflict in the summer, youths of Arab and Turkish origin have regularly insulted me, spat at me and attacked me.”

As such, he continued, he felt he could no longer represent these students, who have expressed their intent in eliminating him, and his people.

Currently, around 16,000 German Muslims live in Offenbach, a small city in the state of Hesse. According to Dr. Elvira Grözinger, who belongs to the German branch of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East, in an interview with The Jerusalem Post, “the anti-Semitism, especially by Muslim students at German schools, is becoming a very serious problem also for the teachers and school directors who have to deal with it daily.”

"It is absolutely necessary to counteract religious and political indoctrination among Muslim youth which is a threat to the German civil society as a whole not just to Jews, but… to inform students and teaching staff about anti-Semitism, Judaism, Jewish history, Israel and the history of the Middle East conflict. At present, many school books include biased information about these topics. The German Chancellor demanded this in public, and now concrete steps must follow. “

The incident comes days after a Grade 9 class in Leipzig were discovered to have founded a secret neo-Nazi club on the popular social platform, WhatsApp where they shared anti-Semitic jeers and jokes (and greeted each other with 'Heil Hitler' salutes), and weeks after German Chancellor took part in a rally titled “Stand Up: Jew Hatred – Never Again!.”

According to Bonifer, his school council did not support him or defend him in the wake of these attacks against him, and is set to end his post as student spokesman at the end of this month. In the interview with FAZ, he claims such incidents have taken place for nearly a year.
