On Sunday night, hours before two deadly terrorist attacks on Israeli soil left a young woman dead, and several others wounded, an Israeli was driving his car at the entrance to Taibe on Route 444 when he was attacked by masked assailants.

He was left for dead after the terrorists lit his car on fire, and would have died, if it weren't for a few Arab citizens in the area who came to his rescue.

"I came back from work in Netanya," the man said in an interview with Israel's Army Radio station. "When I came to the stoplight, they stopped me and tried to talk to me, but I didn't understand a word because I don't speak Arabic. So, they started throwing stones on my car and then set it on fire. A few Arabs helped me get out of the car, from the passenger side."

The man, a resident of Netanya, continued, saying he was afraid he would "die" as the car was "about to go up in flames" at any moment.

"Suddenly, someone pulled me out of the car and put me into his car that had his children in it. He saved my life."

The Israeli driver gave only his first name - Moshe - and said that despite the attack, he will continue driving to work everyday as he normally does. However, he admitted that he was unsure if he'd continue to visit Arab towns or villages, considering the heightened tensions in the country.

"What happened to me was really on the level of a miracle. I got out with just a few scratches. I didn't even have to go to the hospital. An ambulance came, but I only had to wash my face. I just wanted to give many thanks to the people who helped me."

Director of the government council which oversee's the region of Taibe's municipal services, Eric Bermi, made a clear distinction regarding the incident, one that must not be overlooked: that those who saved Moishe were Arab residents of Taibe, and that "not all Taibe residents were looking to do damage."

"Those responsible for the noise and the demonstrations were a group of high school students, not all of whom were from Taibe. We will work to speak to students in schools as is necessary today," Bermi added.

He also noted that the people there are "not extremists" and that he would do his best to "rehabilitate" the city.

"Come to Taibe and you'll see a calm and quiet city. Taibe has the lowest crime rates of all the towns in the area," Bermi added.
