Peter Gabriel Says He Isn't Anti-Israel, He's Just Pro-Gaza

Iconic U.K. singer/songwriter Peter Gabriel has announced his involvement in a charity album which will raise funds for Palestinian organizations, alongside a slew of other musicians and artists.

The musician also took the time to clarify that he's not anti-Israel or anti-Semitic, he's just "anti-Israeli government policy, anti-injustice, anti-oppression and anti-occupation."

Hmm. Did you know Mr. Gabriel that a vast majority of Gazans voted for Hamas, a terrorist organization which claims in its charter that it seeks the destruction of Jews and the State of Israel?

Did you know that a strong percentage of these Gazans, like other radical Muslims in the world, believe in stoning to death for women who commit adultery or people who want to leave the faith?

Would these not qualify as injustice?

Sadly, Gabriel, along with artists who will contribute to the 2 Unite All album - which includes System of A Down frontman Serj Tankian, Stewart Copeland (drummer for the Police) Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, and The Cure's Porl Thompson - seem to believe that all Palestinians in Gaza harbor the same mentality as they do, one that seeks peace, equality and understanding rather than death and destruction.

"Although I am sure both the Palestinian and Israeli people would benefit enormously from a just and fair two-state agreement based around the '67 borders, we have watched the Palestinians subjected to more and more suffering for far too long, especially in Gaza," Gabriel said in a statement.

"Meanwhile, their long-held land is repeatedly stolen by force for illegal settlements."

Have the Israeli people not also been subjected to suffering? Are these musicians unaware of the recent terrorist attacks on Israeli soil that have left several innocent victims dead, including a young 26-year-old woman and a three-month-old baby?

Where is the relief albums for these victims's families? Why are they not as important as the residents who live in "occupied" Gaza?

But no. Peter Gabriel is "not and has never been anti-Israeli or anti-Semitic." He is "anti-Israeli government policy, anti-injustice, anti-oppression and anti-occupation."

“There is clearly a growing movement around the world willing to speak out, including my own country’s parliament. I am happy to be one of these voices now asking the Israeli government, 'Where is that two-state solution you have so long said you wanted?' and more simply, saying, 'Enough," Gabriel continued.

Recent polls indicate that Israelis are all for a two-state solution, and that their main prerogative has not changed: to establish peace. But let me ask you, Mr. Gabriel, is placing all on the blame on Israel really fair? Is it possible that there is more to why Gaza is in the state that it's in than Netanyahu building settlements? (Which, by the way, many Israelis are opposed to).

You know that there's a "government" in Gaza and the Palestinian Territories too, right? Are they not deserving of any blame?
